Main speaker: Benson Tam, partner, Fidelity Asia Ventures

Based in Beijing and a partner of Fidelity Asia Ventures since 2002, Benson heads the Information Technology group.

Benson has been active in Asian private equity since 1992 and developed and mentored numerous investee companies to become billion dollar enterprises.

These include Hurray! Holding (now a leader of mobile media & technology in China, listed on Nasdaq), Locus Corp. (Korea¡¯s leading softswitch manufacturer & systems integrator listed on Kosdaq), Locus Holdings (Korea¡¯s dominant media distributor and talent manager listed on Kosdaq), Kertih Petrochemical Sdn Bhd (Asia¡¯s largest centralized petrochemical storage facility co-developed with Petronas), Dialog Group (Asia¡¯s leading petrochemical engineering company listed on KLSE) and Hongkong International Terminals (the world¡¯s largest container terminals group headquartered in Hong Kong).

Prior to joining FAV, Benson was a partner of Electra Partners Asia for four years, covering South Korea, China, Singapore and India, and was the previous founding director of Hellman & Friedman Asia based in Hong Kong, Malaysia and San Francisco.? (Both are leading buyout funds in Europe and the US respectively.)

He now serves on the boards of iSoftstone Holdings, Datuu Holding, Dianji Holdings and China Search Inc.

Benson has a financial and an engineering background. He is a UK Chartered Accountant and during the late eighties worked in M&A Corporate Finance at S.G. Warburg in London, Europe and Hong Kong.? He is a Civil Engineering graduate from the Imperial College of London University and holds a Master of Science (Computing) from Oxford University.

Asher Epstein As managing director of the Smith School¡¯s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, Asher Epstein is responsible for directing the center¡¯s leading services and programs to successfully guide and support student and regional entrepreneur growth.
Mr. Epstein joined the Dingman Center in 2004. Prior to that he held a variety of management and operational positions working with Fortune 500 companies and startups ¨C including founding his own start up, SilentFrog. SilentFrog operated as an internet marketplace to facilitate hiring in the ¡°microservices¡¯ market for local tasks ranging from lawn-mowing and babysitting to plumbing and car repair.
Mr. Epstein has an undergraduate degree in English and History as well as a Certificate of Management Studies from the University of Rochester. Mr. Epstein received an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
