China Executive MBA Admissions Requirements

Applications for the China Executive MBA are accepted without prejudice as to country of origin, country of residence, race, gender, or age.

Requirements for Applicants:

1. At least eight years of professional experience; a minimum of four years of management experience
2. Bachelor's degree
3. Official university transcripts and proof of degree with certified translations (when appropriate)
4. Current resume
5. Proof of English language proficiency (one exam; see guidelines below)
6. Two letters of reference
7. Sponsorship letter
8. Completed online application
9. Admissions interview

English Language Proficiency

The China Executive MBA is taught entirely in English. As a result, the Smith School at the University of Maryland requires proof of English language proficiency. Applicants must take one of the following entrance exams: TOEFL (minimum required score: paper based score is 550, computer based score is 213, internet based test is 79); IELTS (a minimum score of 6.0 is required); or MEI (Maryland English Institute - a minimum of 4 is required on both written and oral sections). Enter the University of Maryland code on the TOEFL form: 5814. For IELTS, the scores are sent directly to the Admissions Director at the University of Maryland/Smith School, 2416 Van Munching Hall, College Park, MD, 20742, USA.  The Maryland English Institute is an office of the University of Maryland and will provide exam results directly to Smith and the Graduate School.

Applicants must submit their test scores directly to the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Only test scores sent directly from the testing organization to the University of Maryland will be accepted. Only tests taken in the last two years will be considered. Please contact the testing organization to have your scores sent directly to the Smith School at the University of Maryland.

Admissions Interview

The EMBA admissions committee will evaluate the applicant's oral presentation, responses, and general competence. The entire interview will be conducted in English.

Admissions interviews take place at the Smith School's location in Shanghai.
