The Smith School, which partnered with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in 2002, is authorized by China's Ministry of Education and the Degree Granting Committee of the State Council to deliver the Smith Executive MBA in China. The Beijing launch of the Smith Executive MBA with UIBE in 2003 was an exciting milestone as it marked the school's entry into the China market. The success of that program has given the Smith School a great deal of momentum to expand its offerings, including the launch of the Shanghai Executive MBA in November 2005.
The Smith School's China Executive MBA curriculum emphasizes the multicultural aspects of management, a vital element for China as the country continues its rapid transition into a global economic powerhouse. Students have the opportunity to work on projects and simulations with Smith School students based in the U.S. and around the globe. The Smith School is one of just a handful of U.S. business schools authorized by China's Ministry of Education to deliver an Executive MBA in China. Classes are taught by Smith faculty, who travel to China to teach in the program.
The Smith School also offers custom Executive MBA programs designed to meet the particular needs of Chinese and multinational companies in China. Otis Elevator China, one of the nation's fastest growing multinational corporations, is among the organizations for which Smith has designed a custom Executive MBA program. The first Otis-Smith EMBA class graduated in November 2007.
Smith Chinese alumni chapter boasts more than 100 members - including graduates of Smith's China and College Park programs - and continues to grow.
